 Calle Burupacu #2888 - 3er anillo interno

Your child's first visit to the dentist should take place after his or her first tooth appears, but no later than his or her first birthday.
Why so soon?
As soon as your baby has teeth, he or she can develop cavities.

The first visit is the one in which the dentist and the patient meet for the first time. During this first visit of the children to the dentist, the pediatric dentist will check for the presence or absence of "baby bottle" cavities, if there are growth disorders or any abnormalities related to tooth eruption.

This moment is usually used to set guidelines for parents for proper oral hygiene.

It is important that this first contact is not brief, because during it the parents must explain to the dentist what their needs, desires, doubts and expectations are.

It is advisable during the first appointment to proceed according to the attitude of each child, without forcing any treatment and carrying out acclimatization sessions in cases of complicated behavior in some children.
Positive cooperation from parents or companions is highly required during the appointment.

We must avoid fear of the dentist!

One of the problems of children's first visit to the dentist is that they often go with fear.
It is advisable to avoid this by promoting the relationship between the child and the pediatric dentist.
Sometimes it is the parents themselves who transmit to their children this fear generated by personal experiences and which should not be passed on to the children.

Parents must generate a positive attitude in children towards the dentist, we give you some keys:

  • Talk positively about the dentist and the visit to the office
  • Go with them at an early age so that they begin to become familiar with the dental
    office.
  • Explain the importance of oral hygiene and turn tooth brushing into a family game.
  • • Avoid making negative comments about the dentist in front of the child.
