The treatment for the closure of diastemas is fundamentally focused on providing aesthetics and periodontal health.
Diastemas can be resolved with prosthetics and orthodontics, however, these options generally require preparation of healthy tissue, include laboratory procedures and increase clinical time.
The use of composite resins is an aesthetic and functional option for these cases in which minimal or no intervention on healthy tissue is required.
The purpose of this presentation is to describe a case of closure of an upper anterior central diastema using hybrid composite resins.
The diastema was resolved with an incremental technique with hybrid resin until the contact point was achieved, taking care of periodontal health.
The treatment was planned, the surfaces to be augmented were polished, adhesive systems were applied and layers of resin were applied until the desired result was achieved. The aesthetics improved and the patient was completely satisfied.
In this case, the steps of the direct restoration technique with hybrid composite resin augmentation were followed properly.
The diastema was closed and the contact point was restored without forcing the interdental papilla.
